In response to the sharp deterioration of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said he would not allow the country to be drawn into a war that was "fomented by third parties." The politician's reaction caused outrage among Armenians, and they came out en masse to protest in front of the government building in Yerevan.

The protesters believe that it was Pashinyan's passivity that led to the situation that occurred on the morning of September 19. This was reported by the BBC.

"I confirm once again: There are no Armenian armed forces in Nagorno-Karabakh. They will not succeed. No matter how difficult it is, in particular, in emotional terms, we must not allow some forces, external and internal, to jeopardize Armenian statehood," Pashinyan said.

It should be noted that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces began shelling Nagorno-Karabakh, almost the entire territory, and after a while launched an operation to break through the Nagorno-Karabakh contact line and take control of positions and, according to some reports, settlements in Nagorno-Karabakh.

As OBOZREVATEL reported, on the morning of September 19, Azerbaijan launched "local anti-terrorist measures" in Nagorno-Karabakh. Armenia, in turn, called the fighting in the region a "large-scale aggression" and announced that it was convening an emergency meeting of the Security Council.

As a result, Armenians asked where the Russian peacekeepers who were supposed to protect them had gone. They began to suspect that Azerbaijan might have agreed with Russia to start hostilities.
