Biden congratulates Ukraine on Independence Day

US President Joe Biden has congratulated Ukraine on its Independence Day. The American leader assured that our country will remain free.

This is stated on the White House website. In a conversation with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on August 23, Biden "reiterated this message and expressed America's unwavering support for the people of Ukraine."

"Tomorrow—as the people of Ukraine mark their Independence Day—let it be clear: When Russia’s senseless war began, Ukraine was a free country. Today, it is still a free country. And the war will end with Ukraine remaining a free, sovereign, and independent country," the US President said.

He expressed pride in the fact that the United States fully supports Ukraine in its struggle, and also noted that Ukrainians defend the values shared by Americans and the whole world.

In a conversation with Zelenskyy, Biden also announced a new military aid package. It is known that it will include air defense missiles to protect Ukraine's critical infrastructure, equipment to combat drones, anti-tank missiles to protect against Russia's changing tactics on the battlefield, ammunition for soldiers on the front lines, and mobile missile systems for use near the front line.

Earlier, the National Police warned of a high probability of Russian massive missile attacks on the Independence Day of Ukraine. All units of the agency are ready to provide enhanced security measures under martial law

According to a KIIS poll, the vast majority of Ukrainians support Ukraine's independence as of 2024. The number of our compatriots who favor unification with Russia has fallen to record lows and does not reach even half a percent.
