The United States has threatened China with sanctions for facilitating the transfer of North Korean weapons to Russia. Beijing's behavior creates risks in the region and is a "direct disrespect" of Ukraine.

The statement was made on April 29 by US State Department spokesman Vedant Patel amid reports that China had received a ship in its port related to the supply of weapons to the DPRK for the Russian Federation. This was reported by Ukrinform.

Patel noted that Washington is ready to take action. "We believe that this not only creates risks for the region, but is also a direct affront to Ukraine. Therefore, we will continue to take appropriate measures to bring those involved to justice," the State Department spokesman said.

The official recalled that the US side had warned Beijing that any assistance in the transfer of lethal weapons to Russia was unacceptable to the United States and would have consequences.

As reported by OBOZ.UA:

- Chinese leader Xi Jinping plans to visit Hungary and Serbia and meet with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who, like Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, is considered one of the most pro-Russian leaders in Europe at the moment.

- Meanwhile, Russia announced a new visit of dictator Vladimir Putin to China. The Kremlin leader is due to arrive in Beijing in May 2024.
