Israel ends Operation "Shield and Arrow"

On the evening of May 13, Israel ended the five-day Operation "Shield and Arrow". Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the anti-terrorist measures were successful and the soldiers managed to eliminate the entire top leadership of Islamic Jihad in Gaza.

He said this when opening a Sunday government meeting on May 14, NEWSru.co.il reports. It should be noted that Operation "Shield and Arrow" lasted from May 9-13. During this time, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) attacked 422 Islamic Jihad targets in the Gaza Strip.

Six high-ranking commanders of the Al-Quds Brigades (the military wing of Islamic Jihad) were killed.

According to IDF statistics, 1,469 rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip into Israel on May 10-13. Of these, 1139 crossed the border, 39 fell into the sea, and 291 fell in Gaza (approximately 20%).

437 rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defence system, and two rockets (fired at Tel Aviv and Jerusalem) were intercepted by the David's Sling missile defence system.

"Last night we successfully completed a five-day battle against the Islamic Jihad terrorist organisation. Before the start of the operation, the Minister of Defence and I gave the IDF and Shabak (Israel Security Service - Ed.) instructions in two words: initiative and suddenness. Yesterday, I congratulated the Chief of the General Staff and the Chief of the Shabak in two words: "Great job," Netanyahu said.

He called the execution of the operation perfect. "With complete suddenness and constant initiative, we eliminated the entire top leadership of Islamic Jihad in Gaza. We eliminated dozens of terrorists, destroyed 17 Jihad headquarters, missile depots, anti-tank units and much more," the Prime Minister said.

The politician assured that those who want to attack his country will suffer themselves. He hinted quite transparently that Israel's enemies would also be dealt with by the Mossad.

"Today, Israel's enemies in Gaza and far beyond know that even if they try to hide, we can and will reach them at any time," Netanyahu said.

He thanked the commanders and soldiers of the IDF and Shabak, as well as the citizens of Israel - "especially those living in the border areas" - "for their support and resilience, which enabled us to succeed in this operation."

- According to media reports, the first batch of Israeli ieMHR radars has already arrived in Ukraine. These systems, which were agreed upon by the Israeli Ministry of Defence and financed by the Lithuanian government, are capable of detecting large and small air targets, identifying them and predicting the time and place of a possible strike.

- In total, Israel has pledged to provide Ukraine with 16 radars. Three of them have already been put on combat duty.
