Why the Ukrainian Armed Forces chose Sudzha for their offensive in Russia: an OSINT analyst's explanation

Explanation of why the Ukrainian Armed Forces chose Suzha for the offensive

The city of Sudzha in the Kursk region is the last hub for Russian gas exports to Europe. It is also a transportation hub for the Russian group "Sever": a railway line to Belgorod passes through this city, which is important for supplying troops in the Kharkiv direction.

This is the opinion of OSINT analyst Intelschizo. He suggests that if Ukraine manages to occupy the entire territory near the town, it will disrupt Russia's military logistics.

There are Ukrainian flags on government buildings in Suzha. And not only there. At least 350 km² of the Kursk region is now under the control of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, according to Russian propagandists. Their messages, even the most bravura ones, are full of despair. However, none of them knows why Ukraine started "denazification" of Russia in Suzha.

The fact is that it may be difficult to drive Ukrainian troops out of this part of the region. In particular, because the area between the town and the border is on a hill, Intelschizo emphasizes.

The occupation of the high ground north of the city of Suzha will provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with fire control over the logistics of the occupier's "North" group, the analyst said. In addition to logistics, Ukrainian defenders will disrupt the enemy's GLOC (ground lines of communication).

Intelschizo also points out that several Russian railroads intersect in Suzha. Ammunition and other military supplies are transported through them to Belgorod.

And the third reason is that a Russian gas pipeline passes through Sudzha, which used to transport gas to Europe. Intelschizo points out that although this branch is currently inactive, controlling it is still a "good propaganda move."

In turn, other OSINT analysts draw attention to the obvious reason for the operation in the Kursk region. This is the rear of the Russian army group attacking in the Kharkiv direction. The grouping consists of four units: two attacking Hlyboke and Vovchansk north of Kharkiv, one near Hraivoron, and one near Sudzha.

In this way, Ukrainian defenders not only disrupt the logistics of the entire group, but actually cut it into pieces.

Meanwhile, the Russians continue to be hysterical over the loss of control over a dozen border settlements in the Kursk region (as you know, Sudzha is already under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces). Russian dictator Putin convened the government for a meeting on this issue, but the only "decision" that was made there was to evacuate the region.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, on August 6, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Ukrainian units had broken through to the territory of Kursk region in the Suzhansky and Korenevsky districts and gained a foothold in the border villages.

Currently, the occupiers fear that the Ukrainian Armed Forces may seize the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant in the city of Kurchatov.
