Why Russia hits Ukraine with ballistic and supersonic missiles more and more often

Shelling of Chornomorsk on October 7

Natalia Humeniuk, spokesperson for the Operational Command South, commented on the nighttime shelling of Chornomorsk in the Odesa region with supersonic Onyx missiles. As a result, it hit targets before the air raid alarm went off in the city.

She said this on air of the UA national TV marathon "Razom". She added that the invaders' goal was to target the port infrastructure to disrupt the grain corridor. It has become more difficult for Ukrainian air defense systems to shoot down enemy targets, as Russia is using ballistic and supersonic missiles more often.

"They see that the effectiveness of our work is high even with a large number of attacks, and they try to use the weapons that will achieve the goal. However, the use of both ballistics and supersonic missiles is very expensive for them and does not correspond to the result they want to achieve," explained Humeniuk.

The night attack on the Black Sea port was another attempt by Russian troops to achieve at least some success, which is not happening at the front.

"The obvious priority was to hit the port infrastructure facilities as a grain storage facility and recreational infrastructure were destroyed," Humeniuk said.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, on the night of October 7, Russian occupants attacked the civilian and port infrastructure of the Odesa region with supersonic Oniks missiles. They hit the building of a boarding house and a grain storage facility near the port. Four people were injured.
