US to hand over weapons confiscated in Iran to Ukraine

Ukraine will be able to receive thousands of confiscated Iranian weapons and ammunition from the United States. This will help to partially eliminate the acute shortage faced by the Ukrainian armed forces.

This was reported by CNN. According to the source, the US Central Command is going to announce this decision this week.

"The United States will transfer thousands of confiscated Iranian weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, which may help to partially eliminate the acute shortage faced by the Armed Forces, which is awaiting additional money and equipment from the United States and its allies," the report said.

According to the source, it remains unclear which US legal authorities are involved in the transfer of weapons, as the UN requires that confiscated weapons be destroyed or stored.

"The Biden administration has been thinking for several months about how to legally send weapons to Ukrainians," the source added.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL:

- US President Joe Biden signed a temporary bill to to avert a shutdown. This happened a few hours before the funding for federal agencies was to end. There is no additional funding for Ukraine in the bill.

- After that, Biden announced a new separate bill to help Ukraine. And the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said that the adoption of a temporary budget in the United States, which does not include the allocation of funds to Ukraine, will not stop the flow of aid that was announced earlier.

- The U.S. Department of State reiterated its call to the U.S. Congress to take "critical" steps to continue supporting Ukraine, which has been fighting Russia's invasion since February 2022.

- It also became known that the Pentagon has $5.2 billion to provide military support to Ukraine. At current spending levels, these funds will be enough for about six months.
