On Tuesday, August 13, the aggressor country Russia convened an informal meeting of the UN Security Council over the situation in the Kursk region. During the meeting, the Russian representative complained about Ukraine's actions and accused it of escalation.

This was stated by the First Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Dmitry Polyanskiy. He claimed that Ukraine had allegedly rejected Moscow's "generous offer" in June.

"The Zelenskyy regime chose escalation and war by making an attack on the Kursk region. This is a step that Ukraine will regret later," the Russian diplomat threatened.

Then he began to criticize and threaten the entire West, which supports Ukraine in its fight against the occupiers. Polyanskiy said that in its (the civilized world's - Ed.) "distorted picture of the world, Ukraine is good and Russia is bad despite the real picture."

"The fact is that Russia came to end the war that Ukraine started," he said, echoing Kremlin propaganda.

He then complained that Ukrainian troops had entered the Kursk region with tanks and called on the West to "take the right side," recalling World War II.

"You remember how it all ended. And the end will be no less inglorious for the Ukrainian Nazis today. And it's up to you to decide whether you will continue to be on their side and drown in this dishonor and shame together, or whether you will eventually stand on the right side of history. The choice is yours, and don't say later that we didn't warn you," the Russian threatened.

A representative of the United States responded to his speech. He noted that the Russian occupiers are committing atrocities in Ukraine and the world can see it all.

"You will be held accountable for this, history will judge everyone. Russia is trying to defame Ukraine, we all know the truth," the U.S. Ambassador to the UN emphasized.

He added that the Kremlin must stop the war against Ukraine and stop using the Security Council to hide the truth.

As reported, the head of the European Union's diplomacy, Josep Borrell, expressed full support for the Ukrainian operation in the Kursk region. According to him, the Kursk offensive demonstrates the strength and determination of the Ukrainian military.

And Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that the offensive in the Kursk region conducted by Ukraine is a defensive action. The behavior of the Russian invaders in Ukraine has all the hallmarks of genocide. Therefore, Ukraine has every right to "effectively paralyze Russia" on its territory.
