US offers Ukraine new strategy in war as stakes are high: NYT reveals details

The US offers Ukraine a new strategy in the war

The Ukrainian military leadership, together with its American counterparts, is developing a new strategy for the Russian-Ukrainian war. Implementation will begin in early 2024 to return the initiative to the Ukrainian Armed Forces in all areas of the front.

One of the main tasks of the new strategy is to bring Kremlin representatives to the negotiating table on Ukraine's terms in late 2024 or early 2025. This was reported by The New York Times.

American analysts said that the idea to formulate a new strategy arose after the Armed Forces' counteroffensive operations failed to achieve all the goals set, including the return of the occupied territories. It is also noted that Republicans in the US Congress have weakened their support for Kyiv, and US officials have expressed concern that dictator Vladimir Putin may gain an advantage on the battlefield in 2024.

In addition, analysts warn that the Russian occupation army has also begun to change its strategy. At the same time, the aggressor country, the Russian Federation, is trying to recover its losses at an accelerated pace. Moscow now has more troops, ammunition, and missiles, and the aggressor has increased its firepower advantage due to the huge number of drones, most of which are supplied by Iran.

In this regard, the United States has stepped up its personal military advice to Ukraine. US and Ukrainian military officials say they hope to work out the details of the new strategy next month during a series of military exercises in Germany.

At the same time, it has become known that the United States insists on a conservative strategy aimed at holding the territory of Ukraine. This approach also involves building up reserves throughout the year.

U.S. officials say that without a new strategy and additional funding, Ukraine could lose the war. Therefore, dictator Putin is betting on a decrease in American support, pointing to his recent statements that if Ukraine runs out of NATO-supplied ammunition, Russia will win in a matter of days.

Therefore, the Ukrainian military leadership, together with U.S. officials, intends to create a sufficiently realistic threat to Russia to consider engaging in meaningful negotiations at the end of next year or in 2025.

As a reminder, the administration of US President Joe Biden does not rule out the possibility that they could deliver a new security assistance package to Ukraine by the end of 2023. Active discussions regarding the President's request for $106 billion for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan are also underway.

Earlier, it was reported that upon arrival in Washington, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia's real goal is not so much to seize sovereign Ukraine but to destroy democracy and stability throughout the free world.
