Ukrainian defenders have captured a state-of-the-art Russian T-90M Proryv-3 tank in a virtually intact condition. This was done by the soldiers of the tank unit Tour as part of the 225th Separate Assault Battalion.

The vehicle had been parked in the open area for a long time, but "it was well preserved, with only a hole in the engine," the Ukrainian soldiers said. In total, other brigades made 12 attempts to retrieve the tank in eight months, but only the Tour unit succeeded.

"The Russians left this T-90 Proryv-3 on the battlefield. The operation took 4 months, a lot of people and equipment were involved, but we managed to take the trophy out," the 225th Brigade noted and added that the tank has now been handed over to specialists from the Main Intelligence Directorate "for examination".

In Russia, this tank is mysteriously called "Object 188M" because it is a deep modernization of the Russian conventional T-90. Proryv tanks were adopted in Russia in 2020. As of the end of 2023, Russia had over 300 of these vehicles.

The tank has a modernized 125 mm cannon and a remotely controlled 12.7 mm anti-aircraft gun. There is also a remote-controlled machine gun mount. The vehicle is equipped with "third-generation modular dynamic protection" and even a fire extinguishing system.

However, the Russian "pride" in Ukraine is burning up nicely. In the spring of 2022, the Russians used about 20 T-90M tanks for an offensive on Kyiv. At least two units were destroyed and at least two tanks were captured back then.

In September 2022, during the counteroffensive near Izium, the Ukrainian Armed Forces captured a T-90M without one track, and another T-90M was captured in early December. By June 2023, Russia had lost at least 22 T-90M tanks.

In January 2024, in the area of Stepove near Avdiivka, Ukrainians on two Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, acting in turn in a direct collision with a T-90M Proryv, destroyed the Russian tank with the crew, although the tank had a great advantage in terms of weapons and armor.

As reported, the Russians are trying to keep the vehicles to provide logistics in the Kharkiv sector. However, the fighters of the 2nd Separate Detachment of the Omega Special Forces Center thwarted their plans and destroyed another vehicle used by the enemy to deliver ammunition. It is noteworthy that this is the eighth such vehicle destroyed by the Special Forces this week.
