Ukraine starts negotiations with the UK on security guarantees: what is known

The UK has consistently demonstrated leadership

On Friday, 11 August, Ukraine held its first consultations with the UK government on security guarantees for our country. This is provided for in the Joint Declaration of Support for Ukraine, which is the basis for the development of relevant bilateral documents.

This was reported by the press service of the Office of the President. The Ukrainian delegation was headed by the head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak.

"The UK has consistently demonstrated leadership and example in making and implementing the boldest decisions to support Ukraine. The Ukrainian people greatly appreciate the assistance already provided, and we are confident in further strengthening our strategic partnership both before and after the victory," he said.

It should be added that the UK became the second country after the US with which Ukraine started such negotiations and continued the positive dynamics of implementation of security agreements with key international partners.

As a reminder, Latvian Prime Minister Krišjānis Karinš said that his country was entering into agreements on a declaration of security guarantees for Ukraine. Riga intends to continue to support the Ukrainian people in their fight against Russia's barbaric aggression, and is ready to bring war criminals to justice.
