Ukraine is on its way to liberating Crimea: US general assesses Ukrainian counter-offensive

General Hodges envisages liberation of Crimea

The main phase of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' counter-offensive has not yet begun, but the defenders of their homeland are already on the way to driving the occupiers from their territories. If the battles are successful, Russia will be forced to retreat, including from Crimea.

This was stated by General and former Commander of the United States Army in Europe Ben Hodges during the UA Razom telethon. Currently, the Defence Forces are systematically working to "probe" the enemy's weaknesses and confuse them.

"The Russian army is at a loss, not understanding where the main attack on their positions will be concentrated. Of course, there will be casualties during the fighting. I mean, the next few days will be very difficult, but I expect that in the next few weeks we will see much greater success and progressive dynamics of the Ukrainian forces," the US general stressed.

Thus, Hodges concluded that the initial stage of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' operation is important in liberating the territories. It is not yet possible to talk about the results, but one thing is clear.

"Ukraine has embarked on a path that will lead to the liberation of Crimea and the expulsion of Russian occupiers from the occupied territories," he said.

Earlier, OBOZREVATEL reported that Hodges expressed his dissatisfaction with the lack of ATACMS missiles in the arsenal of the Ukrainian army and supported the British decision to provide Storm Shadow. Otherwise, it will fuel Russia's illusion of security in the occupied Crimean territory.

The US general also indicated that Ukraine could win the war with Russia by the end of 2023. This largely depends on the support of the United States and other Western allies, who must firmly declare their desire for our victory.

"We must help Ukraine with continuous efforts to modernise its defence. We need Ukraine to be armed to the teeth, like South Korea, to be able to deter Russia from repeated attacks. I expect some kind of agreement or arrangement between the US, perhaps with some other countries, and Ukraine to improve Ukraine's security until it becomes a NATO member," he concluded.
