The territorial integrity of Ukraine cannot be a subject for discussion or compromise. Crimea is Ukraine, so any proposals for any other status of the peninsula are unacceptable.

This was stated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in response to the proposal of its Polish counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski to place Crimea under a UN mandate. The ministry recalled the United Nations Charter and international law.

"Crimea is Ukraine. Period. Our Defense Forces, partners, the UN Charter, and international law are on the side of Ukraine. Crimea is the center of gravity of the European security architecture. Its full restoration is possible only after the complete de-occupation of the entire territory of Ukraine, including the Ukrainian peninsula," the statement said.

The Foreign Ministry added that it expects further strong support from its partners to force Russia to withdraw its troops from the entire territory of Ukraine and bring the aggressor country to justice for the war against Ukraine and all its crimes.

"All efforts should be aimed at achieving these goals as soon as possible, and not satisfying the Kremlin's appetites in one way or another at the expense of Ukraine's interests and international law," the Foreign Ministry emphasized.

As reported by OBOZ.UA:

Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski proposed to transfer Crimea temporarily occupied by Russia under the UN mandate. This is allegedly necessary to prepare, in his opinion, a fair referendum.

Zelenskyy's office responded to Sikorski's scandalous proposal. The representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Tamila Tasheva, said that any proposals to transfer Crimea to a protectorate or to hold new "referendums" contradict the principles of international law and undermine Ukraine's sovereignty. The Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol have been and remain an integral part of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders.

The Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people reacted sharply to the statement of Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski on the transfer of Crimea under the UN mandate. The Chairman of the Mejlis Refat Chubarov called such statements "unacceptable and cynical".
