President of Poland Andrzej Duda said that the aggressor country Russia is obliged to compensate Ukraine for the damage caused during the war. Our country should not rebuild at its own expense, as Poland did for 40 years.

The Polish leader expressed this conviction on the anniversary of the beginning of World War II during events in the city of Wielun, which the Luftwaffe began bombing from the air first in 1941. He reminded that Poland suffered huge material and human losses that were not compensated, Ukrinform reports.

In total, the country's material losses as a result of German aggression exceed $1.5 trillion. More than 70% of this amount is compensation for human losses, as the country lost 5 million people during the war.

Duda noted that Germany has repeatedly apologized for the damage it caused to Poland, and Poles have forgiven in the Christian dimension, but Berlin has not compensated for material damage.

"We would not want Ukraine to have to rebuild at its own expense, as Poland did for 40 years. Ukraine will need support, but above all, it will demand compensation and reimbursement for the damage caused, which is the absolute duty of the aggressor, that is, Russia," the Polish president emphasized.

As reported by OBOZ.UA:

- Duda said that Poland has provided Ukraine with military aid worth about 12 billion zlotys (about 3 billion US dollars). The total value of the aid - military, humanitarian, and other - is 100 billion zlotys (about 25 billion US dollars).

- Polish President Andrzej Duda also called on the Russian occupiers to leave the territory of Ukraine. At the same time, he emphasized that he would call Volodymyr Zelensky and ask him not to shoot at the retreating troops.
