"They are crawling like cockroaches": Russia deploys three new brigades near Avdiivka to encircle the city. What is the situation now

The situation in Avdiivka

A large-scale attack by Russian occupation forces on Avdiivka, Donetsk region, has been going on for four days now, with the enemy trying to surround the city and focusing on attacks from the north and south. The invaders have concentrated three new brigades in the area.

The invaders are conducting "simultaneous massive strikes by mechanized columns and foot assault groups supported by artillery and aircraft, combined with strikes on our rear and extensive use of drones." This was reported to The Washington Post by Vadym Sukharevskyi, commander of the Ukrainian 59th Separate Motorized Brigade.

Ukrainian soldiers are courageously defending our land and eliminating the occupants. According to Sukharevskyi, four Russian battalions in the area lost their combat capability.

Vitaliy Barabash speaks about the situation in Avdiivka

On the morning of October 13, during the United News marathon, the head of Avdiivka Military Regional Administration Vitaliy Barabash said that the situation is difficult (to watch the video, scroll to the end).

Enemy aircraft are very active in this area. There are artillery duels and small arms battles. In addition, the enemy is trying to use armored vehicles to advance.

"The assaults do not stop day or night, [the Russians] crawling like cockroaches, a lot of them," the official said.

He said that the Russian Armed Forces continued to shell Avdiivka at night. The occupants also shelled the rear settlements, the Ocheretyne community in particular. As for the enemy shelling of the positions of Ukrainian defenders, there were so many that "they did not even count," Barabash noted.

According to him, on October 12, the troops of the aggressor country used a lot of equipment in the Avdiivka direction. However, Ukrainian soldiers "have been standing firmly on their positions for the fourth day, I am sure they will continue to do so because they are not people, they are titans."

Barabash acknowledged that Avdiivka logistics is becoming problematic. The authorities stopped supplying both humanitarian aid and food to the city during the offensive, but he assures that food, hygiene products, and medicine are stocked there "in sufficient quantities and with a reserve for several months."

The head of the RMA noted that if civilians want to leave, "we try to find gaps in the shelling."
