The potential exceeds the budget's capacity: Kamyshin names the biggest challenge for Ukraine's defense industry

Kamyshin spoke about the challenge for the Ukrainian defense industry

Finding the means to utilize the production capacity of the Ukrainian defense industry remains the biggest challenge. After all, the domestic defense industry is capable of producing products worth $30 billion, while the budget can finance purchases of no more than $10 billion.

This disproportion was stated by Oleksandr Kamyshin, a freelance advisor to the President on strategic issues. He spoke at the second International Defense Industries Forum, Ukrinform reports.

The former Minister for Strategic Industries said that last year, thanks to contracts with the Defense Ministry, our defense industry enterprises were able to triple their production. At that time, the facilities were almost fully utilized. This year, a sixfold increase is expected.

"We are confident that we need to look for ways to utilize these facilities. The best tool is the funds of our partners, which will allow us to purchase Ukrainian products under the ZBROYARI: Manufacturing Freedom program," said Kamyshin.

This is a global fundraising campaign that has organized a collection among partner countries. The goal is to raise $10 billion for the production of Ukrainian weapons within a year.

Kamyshyn said that as of October 1, $750 million had already been raised through this project.

As reported by OBOZ.UA:

– Earlier, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said that the state plans to purchase more than a million domestically produced UAVs annually.

– The Ukrainian Defense Forces will have domestically produced BoarTAC unmanned multipurpose transporters that will be able to operate on the front line. The Ministry of Defense has codified and authorized this robotic equipment for use.
