The Pentagon stated how much money is left for assistance to Ukraine and urged Congress to approve Biden's request
The U.S. Department of Defense has once again called on Congress to approve President Joe Biden's request for additional funding for Ukraine to fight the invasion of Russian occupiers and for Israel to fight Hamas. They emphasized that assistance to these countries is also needed to protect U.S. national interests.
Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh said this at a briefing on Thursday, November 16, Ukrinform reports. Approval of Biden's request will not only continue to help Ukraine and Israel but also make important investments in the Indo-Pacific region, as well as provide humanitarian assistance around the world.
The supplemental budget request will meet America's national security needs, Singh emphasized. This will be an investment in the military-industrial sector of the state and will replenish the Pentagon's stockpile of weapons previously allocated as foreign aid.
According to a Pentagon spokeswoman, the department currently has only $4.9 billion available for use in the form of PDA (Presidential Decision Authority) packages. In addition, there is about $1.1 left to replenish the US Department of Defense's stockpiles.
However, Ukraine needs much more to be able to confront Russia on the battlefield. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are waging a counteroffensive, and they need regular support.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, the State Department again called on Congress, in particular the House of Representatives, to approve the allocation of funds to help Ukraine. They reminded us that the Pentagon has already exhausted about 95% of the funds it had to provide military support to our country.
