Russian occupiers stationed in the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region burned their own Msta-S self-propelled artillery system. The incident took place in July this year.

In order not to be punished, they claimed that the howitzer allegedly caught fire on its own. This was reported by the Telegram channel "Spy Dossier".

"How to burn your own self-propelled howitzer and not get hit on the head for it. The photo shows a burnt-out 2S19 Msta-S self-propelled artillery system belonging to the 205th separate motorised rifle brigade (military unit 74814, Stavropol Territory). The 205th Separate Motorised Rifle Brigade are the same guys who are rumoured to be responsible for the dam explosion at the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station. They are currently stationed in the village of Nova Kakhovka," the message says.

According to the channel's author, Msta-S was undergoing maintenance. The fire was caused by a thrown cigarette butt, which led to the complete burnout of the weapon.

In order to avoid further investigation and, as a result, punishment, the brigade's deputy commander for weapons, Lieutenant Colonel Yevhen Kysil, ordered that the cause of the loss be stated as "internal spontaneous combustion of the power cable".
