The best American F-16 pilot Dan Hampton says he is ready to defend the Ukrainian sky. Video.
Retired Lt Colonel Dan Hampton, the "deadliest F-16 pilot" in the U.S. Air Force, with the call sign Two Dogs, has expressed his readiness to defend Ukraine's sky. He believes that Ukraine needs to find foreign pilots who have experience flying F-16s to help bring our victory closer.
The American military officer said this in an interview with the Voice of America. He emphasized that the partners will provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with the desired aircraft, and the most important thing is to find people who can fly those aircraft, who already have thousands of hours of flying time on those fighters and do not need training (to watch the video, scroll to the end of the news).
"This is faster than sending Ukrainian pilots to the United States for training. It will be good when the war is over, but you have to win it first, and this is one way to do it. Again, it's up to governments and politicians to decide. I will tell you that these types of pilots are available, and it's a very feasible option, so I hope that people in positions of power in your country will hear this and maybe think about it," Hampton said.
He believes that there are enough American pilots who are ready to defend the Ukrainian sky if the governments resolve their issues.
"I'll even go myself, I'll be number one, you can count on me!" Hampton expressed his readiness.
To recap, the American newspaper Politico reported that a group of senators from both the Democratic and Republican parties are pressuring the White House to provide Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets as soon as possible. In their opinion, such support could "change the rules of the game on the battlefield."
The senators also welcomed the news of the arrival of two Ukrainian pilots to the United States to assess their combat skills at the Morris Air National Guard Base in Tucson, Arizona, in Senator Mark Kelly's home state, in what they called a "critical step in gauging" their readiness to fly the F-16.
As OBOZREVATEL reported:
- The U.S. has agreed to the supply of fighter jets to Ukraine by any third country. At the same time, the United States government confirmed that such a decision is sovereign and is made by each country separately;
- President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the issue of transferring modern fighter jets to Ukraine is quite complicated, but Ukrainians hope for a positive decision. At the same time, the Head of State emphasized that new combat aircraft could decide the course of the war in Ukraine.
