Syrskyi announces personnel reshuffle at the brigade level after visiting the frontline

The Commander-in-Chief visited the soldiers holding defense in the east

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, announced the replacement of some brigade commanders after visiting military units holding defense in the Avdiivka and Kurakhove directions.

Syrskyi made the statement on his official Telegram channel on Saturday, March 2. He explained that it is the brigade commander who is currently responsible for the unit's ability to hold the line.

"I continue to work on the eastern front. Within three days, it became quite clear why, given the same manning levels, weapons and military equipment, some brigades manage to deter enemy attacks and hold their positions, while others do not," the commander-in-chief wrote.

Syrskyi added that this primarily depends on the brigade commander, his level of training, experience, ability to make adequate and balanced decisions, and understanding of the full extent of responsibility for the fulfillment of tasks and for the lives and health of his subordinates.

The level of training and coordination of the brigade headquarters, through which the commander exercises his authority, is also of great importance. Therefore, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has sent groups of specialists to certain brigades where there are problems with the preparation of the staff to share their experience and provide assistance, he said in a statement.

"As a result of hearing the brigade commanders and their deputies, all necessary decisions to provide reserves, ammunition, UAVs and other equipment were made. In cases when the commander is not aware of the situation and his actions and commands directly threaten the lives and health of his subordinates, I am forced to make personnel changes," Syrskyi said.
