Stoltenberg arrived on a visit to Ukraine and held talks with Zelenskyy. Photos, videos and all the details
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg arrived in Ukraine on Monday, April 29, for an unannounced visit. In Kyiv, he met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss military support for the Ukrainian state.
The talks were followed by a joint press conference. This was reported by an OBOZ.UA correspondent.
In particular, Zelenskyy said that after a positive vote in the US Congress, military aid has already begun to flow to Ukraine, but the soldiers of the Defense Forces have not yet received all the necessary tools to fight.
Zelenskyy also emphasized the need to speed up the process of arms transfers.
As a reminder, Stoltenberg recently visited Germany to prepare for the July NATO summit in Washington. Prior to that, he visited Poland, where he discussed deterrence and defense, as well as support for Ukraine, with Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, on April 26, the NATO Secretary General said at a press conference in Berlin that the allies had not provided Ukraine with the promised assistance in time, but it was not too late to do so so that Kyiv could win on the battlefield.
He also called on NATO countries to follow the example of Germany, which provided Ukraine with the third Patriot air defense system.
In addition, according to Bild, on April 25, Stoltenberg and German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock met secretly in a restaurant in Berlin.
The conversation lasted almost three hours and "was somewhat heated". According to the newspaper, Stoltenberg asked Burbock for a conversation and discussed the security of Europe and further assistance to Ukraine.
