On the night of Thursday, January 30, the troops of the Russian aggressor country attacked Sumy with "Shaheds." One of the enemy drones hit a residential high-rise building: six people were killed and ten injured, including a child.

The first details of the tragedy were reported by the Sumy Regional Military Administration. The acting mayor of Sumy, Artem Kobzar, showed the aftermath of the hit.

First, there was information about the death of one person, which was later denied by the Sumy City Council.

"There are four injured, including a 7-year-old child and an 18-year-old man (he is in serious condition). All were hospitalized," they said.

Later, the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Volodymyr Artiukh, posted a video in which he reported one dead and three injured.

Later, the Sumy regional police reported that the number of wounded had increased to seven people. All emergency services continued to work at the scene, and the victims were provided with assistance.

According to "Kordon.Media," the fifth, sixth, and seventh floors of the high-rise building were destroyed. Rescuers were evacuating people.

The SES also rescued a woman who was trapped under a stove due to a Russian strike.

According to preliminary data from the State Emergency Service, nine apartments and 12 balconies were destroyed in the ten-story building hit by an enemy drone.

Emergency workers managed to rescue four people, including a child. The building was also evacuated with 118 residents.

The rescuers quickly set up a mobile invincibility center at the site. Psychologists and medics from the State Emergency Service worked there.

"Two dog teams have been engaged. Citizens are provided with comprehensive assistance. Special equipment for high-altitude work is in operation," the agency added.

As of 06:00, nine people were injured in Sumy, including an eight-year-old girl.

As of 07:00, rescuers have freed the bodies of two people (a man and a woman) from the rubble. Rescue and search operations continued.

The Sumy City Council reported that five victims, including a child, were hospitalized, three of them in serious condition. People are being provided with the necessary medical and psychological assistance.

A drone strike in the building destroyed five apartments on four floors and 12 balconies. The glazing of more than 80 windows and balconies was damaged. More than 20 cars were also damaged.

"A mobile resilience center of the State Emergency Service has been deployed at the scene (85 people were helped). There is also a point of indestructibility of the local government," the agency added.

Rescuers have recovered the bodies of two more residents from under the destroyed structures of a residential building on the fifth floor. Thus, as of 08:00, four people were killed as a result of an enemy drone hitting a Sumy high-rise building.

Under the procedural supervision of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation was initiated into the commission of war crimes that resulted in the death of people (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the hit occurred around 00:20 on Thursday. In total, two apartment buildings and 23 vehicles were damaged.

Prosecutors, in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, are documenting the consequences of the shelling. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the SSU Office in Sumy region.

In the afternoon, at the site of the Russian strike, the SESU mountaineers were dismantling the structures. The damaged elements of the building were being dismantled and large concrete slabs were being dismantled. Equipment for high-altitude work was in use.

Local media, citing prosecutors, said that two couples were killed that night as a result of a Russian UAV strike on a high-rise building in a residential area of Sumy.

"These are elderly couples. The Shpetny family: A 74-year-old man and a 69-year-old woman. And the Borysenko family: A 65-year-old man and his 64-year-old wife. In the footage, the bodies of these people are seen, and their rescuers freed them from the apartments destroyed by the Russian "Shahed"," the statement reads.

As of 15:30, it was reported that the death toll had risen to six. The bodies of two more people were pulled from the rubble on the first floor, the Prosecutor General's Office and the Interior Ministry said.

Three couples were killed: A 74-year-old man and his 69-year-old wife, a 65-year-old man and his 64-year-old wife, and a 61-year-old man and his 61-year-old wife.

Ten other people were injured, including a child. As of 15:50, emergency rescue operations continue.
