Russian units staffed up to 95%: Ukraine's Defense Ministry explains how many occupants are fighting in Ukraine
The grouping of Russian ground troops fighting in Ukraine is 462 thousand occupants. There are also about 35,000 soldiers from the Russian Guard.
At the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the land component of the occupation forces involved in the war numbered about 180-190 thousand invaders. This was stated by Vadym Skibitskyi, Deputy Head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, on Wednesday, January 10, in a podcast for UP.
According to him, representatives of the Rosgvardia are not directly involved in hostilities: they ensure the occupation regime in the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories.
In addition, the aggressor country has involved the aviation component and the Black Sea Fleet in the war against Ukraine.
The Ukrainian intelligence representative noted that the manning of enemy units is currently at 92-95%. According to Skibitskyi, there were moments when the occupation troops' manning levels dropped to 89-90%. However, due to mobilization in Russia, the Russians are replenishing their losses.
He clarified that due to this manning of units, the troops of the aggressor country can conduct rotations, meaning send units that have lost their combat capability to recover.
As previously reported, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine said that the Russian invaders are threatening to recruit residents of the occupied territories into their army in an attempt to cover significant losses. The Russians have intensified the mechanisms of forced mobilization in the occupied communities of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, focusing on local farmers.
