Russian troops intensified their offensive in Kursk region, actively using armored vehicles: ISW assessed the situation. Map

Ukrainian Armed Forces had some successes in Kursk region on November 10 - ISW

The Ukrainian Defense Forces and Russian troops advanced on the main Ukrainian salient in the Kursk region amid prolonged fighting on November 10. At the same time, the Russians have intensified their attacks and are actively using armored vehicles in the fighting.

In an attempt to regain territory, the enemy has concentrated about 50,000 soldiers in the region, including a contingent from North Korea. This was pointed out by analysts at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

They refer to geolocation footage that shows that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have recently advanced north of Novoivanivka (southeast of Koreneve), while Russian forces have advanced south of the settlement.

Additional geolocation footage showed the Russian army advancing south and east of the village of Pohrebky (north of Sudzha).

The Russian Ministry of Defense acknowledged that Ukrainian forces counterattacked the Russian Armed Forces southeast of Koreneve in the area of Novoivanivka, Daryino and Zelenyi Shlyakh, and east of Koreneve near Nova Sorochyna.

A representative of the Ukrainian brigade operating in the Kursk region said that Russian troops have intensified offensive operations using armored personnel carriers, infantry fighting vehicles and tanks. It is noted that units of the 810th Marine Brigade (Russian Black Sea Fleet, Southern Military District) are operating in the area of Pohrebky.

"Neither Russian nor Ukrainian sources reported any fighting in the Glushkoa area (west of the main Ukrainian salient) on November 10," ISW emphasized.

They also referred to a November 10 New York Times article, where analysts quoted unspecified US and Ukrainian officials. According to them, Russia has deployed about 50,000 troops, including North Korean soldiers, to try to retake territory in the Kursk region. The NYT article, citing a new US assessment, says that Russia has concentrated these forces without redeploying troops from eastern Ukraine.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, military experts have emphasized that Russia will not be able to endlessly suffer heavy losses at the front for the sake of limited success. Having captured 1,500 square kilometers of territory in September-October 2024, the Russian army lost almost 200 tanks, more than 650 armored vehicles, and about 80,000 soldiers (killed and wounded).
