Russian troops are trying to regain lost ground: Defence forces repelled 20 enemy attacks - General Staff

Over the course of 22 June, Russian troops engaged in two dozen combat clashes in four directions: Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Maryinka. The invaders are unable to break through the positions of the Defence Forces.

This was reported by the General Staff of the Ukrainian Army, which traditionally posted a summary of events from the front on Facebook. The enemy also carried out 44 air strikes and fired about 30 times from multiple launch rocket systems at the positions of our troops and settlements.

"Unfortunately, in addition to the destroyed infrastructure, civilians suffered. We remind you that a missile attack from Russia remains a possible threat throughout Ukraine," the statement said.

The invaders also launched an air strike against Ukraine, using three X-47 Kinzhal air defense missiles, three X-22 cruise missiles and four Shahed-136/131 drones. Three enemy kamikaze drones were destroyed by the air defence forces and equipment of the Ukrainian Air Force.

The enemy also fired with rockets and artillery today:

• in the Kupyansk sector, the enemy made unsuccessful offensive actions in the direction of Sinkivka and launched an air strike near Kyslivka, Kharkiv region. Odradne, Kolodyazne, Krasne Pershe, Figolovka, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, Zakhidne, Masiutivka, Kyslivka, Berestove in the Kharkiv region came under artillery and mortar fire;
• in the Lyman sector, the enemy conducted air strikes in the areas of Nevske in Luhansk region and Ivanivka, Torske, Bilohorivka, Dibrova and Spirne in Donetsk region. Nevske, Dibrova and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region and Torske, Serebryanka, Verkhnekamyane, Spirne and Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region came under artillery fire;
• in the Bakhmut sector, the enemy conducted air strikes in the areas of Bohdanivka, Bila Hora and Pivnichne, Donetsk region. Hostile artillery shelling affected the areas of Rai-Alexandrivka, Vasyukivka, Orikhove-Vasylivka, Novomarkove, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Ozaryanivka, Pivdenne, and New York in the Donetsk region;
• in the Avdiivka sector, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives in the area of Siverske and Avdiivka. It carried out air strikes in the areas of Avdiivka and Nevelske. It carried out artillery shelling of the areas of Lastochkino, Avdiivka, Karlivka, Pervomayske and Nevelske in the Donetsk region;
• in the Maryinka sector, the enemy conducted offensive actions in the directions of Maryinka and Peremoha in Donetsk region, but was unsuccessful. He conducted an air strike near Krasnohorivka, Donetsk region. At the same time, it fired artillery at the settlements of Maksymilianivka, Maryinka, Heorhiivka and Peremoha in the Donetsk region;
• in the Shakhtarsk sector, the enemy launched an air strike near Zolota Niva, Velyka Novosilka and Blahodatne. They shelled the settlements of Paraskoviivka, Novomykhailivka and Blahodatne in the Donetsk region;
• in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the enemy continues to conduct defensive actions, focusing its main efforts on preventing the advance of our troops. He tried to regain the lost ground near Makarivka, Donetsk region. He conducted air strikes in the areas of Storozheve and Makarivka. It carried out artillery shelling of Novoocheretuvate, Makarivka, Storozheve, Zelene Pole, Temyrivka in Donetsk region; Levadne, Krasne, Hulyaypole, Charivne, Novoandriivka, Stepove, Pyatikhatky in Zaporizhzhya region; Zolota Balka, Mykhailivka, Dudchany, Ivanivka, Sadove, Molodizhne, Bilozerka, Antonivka, Kherson, Dniprovske in Kherson region.

Nevertheless, the Defence Forces are confidently repelling the invaders, causing the enemy to suffer losses and damage. Our aviation carried out seven strikes on the areas of concentration of enemy personnel and four on enemy anti-aircraft missile systems.

"During the day, missile and artillery units hit a command post, two areas of concentration of enemy personnel and military equipment, two ammunition depots, a fuel and lubricants depot, 23 artillery units at firing positions, two electronic warfare facilities and 2 communication hubs," the General Staff noted.

Earlier, OBOZREVATEL reported that retired Lieutenant General Ben Hodges believes that the Defence Forces will be able to break through the defence lines of the Russian occupiers and reach Crimea by the end of this summer. To do this, Western countries should expand military assistance to Kyiv.
