Russia redeployed DPRK soldiers to Donetsk: Center for Defense Policy tells whether they have already participated in combat
Russian troops have begun deploying North Korean engineering units to the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, in particular to Donetsk. They have not yet taken part in hostilities.
This was announced by the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Andrii Kovalenko, during a telethon on October 31. According to him, the Russian army may first use the North Korean military in the Donetsk sector and then deploy them to other parts of the front.
"Engineer troops have already been present in the temporarily occupied territories, in particular in Donetsk. So far, they have not participated in the war," Kovalenko said.
Kovalenko also added that Russia also plans to disguise North Korean soldiers: they are likely to be dressed in Russian uniforms, issued Russian documents, and "mixed with Kalmyks and Buryats" to make identification difficult.
Kovalenko also called for not underestimating the threat posed by the DPRK military at the front. Their potential participation in hostilities could significantly affect the overall situation.
Earlier it was reported that the DPRK military, who were sent to the war in Ukraine, have already been sent "to the front line". They are headed by the Deputy Chief of Staff of the North Korean Army Kim Yong-bok.
As a reminder, South Korea has already provided NATO representatives with the main facts of military cooperation between Russia and the DPRK at an emergency meeting of the North Atlantic Council. Following the meeting, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte noted that DPRK troops are already in the Kursk region.
