The aggressor country may be preparing to undermine the Kyiv HPP and the Kaniv reservoir dams, Ukraine said at OSCE.

This statement was made by the acting permanent representative of Ukraine to international organizations in Vienna, Viktoria Kuvshynnykova, at a regular meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council on Thursday, Ukrinform reports.

She noted that Russia's statements about the possible destruction of the Kyiv HPP and the Kaniv reservoir dams could be both disinformation aimed at intimidating the Ukrainian people and preparations for attacking them in the course of the so-called false flag operation.

"Against the backdrop of continuous and ruthless attacks on critical Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, we have witnessed new absurd accusations by Russia that Ukraine is allegedly preparing to destroy the dams," she said.

Kuvshynnykova added that the largest man-made disaster in Europe in decades was when Russian destroyed the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant from the inside, which was preceded by an active disinformation campaign. Thus, it "eloquently testifies to the Kremlin's methods."

"Whatever it is - spreading disinformation, intimidating the Ukrainian people, preparing for a false flag operation, or an attempt to divert the attention of the international community - the OSCE community should monitor Russia's actions even more closely," Kuvshynnykova summarized.

As previously reported, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Ukraine allegedly plans to destroy Kyiv HPP and the Kaniv reservoir dams to blame Russia for this. Ukraine responded to such fake news and reminded that Moscow has demonstrated this strategy many times before: accusing others of what it does or plans to do.

It is worth noting that by issuing false statements about Ukraine's alleged preparations to destroy the dams, the aggressor state Russia aims not only to intimidate the Ukrainian population, but also to put pressure on Western countries. By blackmailing Ukraine, the Russians may want to "force" Ukraine and the West to begin "talks."
