Russia launches another attack on Ukraine, firing missiles from Tu-95MS and Kinzhali: a shopping center in Dnipro and houses in various regions are damaged. Photos and videos
On the morning of Monday, January 8, an air alert was declared in all regions of Ukraine due to the launch of missiles fromRussia, including Kinzhal ballistic missiles. The first explosions occurred in Dnipro, followed by explosions in Kryvyi Rih, Khmelnytskyi, Zaporizhzhia, and Kharkiv region, with injuries and a casualty.
There were reports of arrivals and destruction as a result of the downing of enemy targets. Regional military administrations, the State Emergency Service, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs have reported on the details of the attack, publishing photos and videos.
Russia launches various missiles at Ukraine
According to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, at about 3 a.m., nine Russian Tu-95MS strategic bombers took off from the Olenya airfield (Murmansk region of the Russian Federation). Around 06:00, four Tu-22M3s were seen taking off from the same airfield. The military and authorities urged citizens not to ignore the alarms and to take care of their own safety.
At 06:10, an air raid alert began to spread across the regions of Ukraine: 11 Russian Tu-95MS bombers posed a missile threat, and after 06:17, they launched cruise missiles from the Caspian Sea.
In addition, enemy Su-35/Su-34 aircraft, which became more active in the north, used air-to-air missile weapons. The first missiles flew through Sumy region in the direction of Poltava/Cherkasy region, through Kharkiv region towards Dnipro region, and from the south of Kyiv region in the western direction.
"The first missiles are already on the territory of Ukraine, so the launches were much earlier. Two waves have arrived, and we are waiting for the third. The first one is flying in the south of Kyiv region, heading for Vinnytsia region, and the second one is flying in Sumy region, heading for Poltava region. The threat of missiles is in Sumy, Kyiv, Cherkasy, and Poltava regions. Respond to the alarms!" the Mykolaiv Vanek Telegram channel wrote.
About seven MiG-31K fighter jets were also seen taking off from the Savasleyka airfield in the Nizhny Novgorod region of the Russian Federation. At 06:36, the Ukrainian Air Force announced that the occupiers had launched Kinzhal ballistic missiles.
A few minutes later, a high-speed target was reported flying over Dnipro, after which explosions were heard in the city. It was also noisy in Kryvyi Rih and Zaporizhzhia.
At 07:20, explosions occurred in Khmelnytsky and again in Zaporizhzhia. There were reports of air defense operations, particularly on the border of Kyiv and Kyiv region. At the same time, Kharkiv region was under enemy fire.
At 08:25, an air raid alert was announced across Ukraine. By this time, it was already known about the victims of the Russian attack in Zaporizhzhia, at least four missile strikes on Kharkiv - without casualties, as well as a house in the city of Zmiiv, Chuhuiv district of Kharkiv region, where people were trapped under the rubble.
According to monitoring channels, the Russian occupiers used
- Kh-101/555 cruise missiles from at least ten Tu-95 aircraft from the Caspian Sea and Volgodonsk region;
- Kh-47M2 " Kinzhal" aerial ballistic missiles from MiG-31K aircraft;
- ballistic missiles of the "S-300/S400" from the so-called Crimea and Belgorod region of the Russian Federation;
- supersonic missiles Kh-22/32 from Tu-22m3 from Kursk and Voronezh regions of the Russian Federation.
"Some of the Kh-101/555 missiles covered the longest distance of about 1400 km in two hours of flight. Starokostiantyniv, Kryvyi Rih, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kharkiv, and some settlements in these regions were under attack. We are grateful to the defense forces, air defense and aviation. Unfortunately, there are hits, expect information from the regional military administration," the post reads.
Consequences of the Russian missile attack
Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said that Russian occupants attacked four regions of Ukraine with missiles on Monday morning, killing one person and injuring others.
Zaporizhzhia: rescuers and police were working at six locations where rockets hit residential areas near houses. According to preliminary reports, four people were injured.
Dnipropetrovsk region: in Novomoskovsk , a minibus was overturned by an explosive wave, eight passengers got out of the cabin on their own. A total of 20 people, including four children, sought medical attention. Residential buildings were damaged.
A private house was destroyed in Kryvyi Rih district, one person died. A private house in Kryvyi Rih was also destroyed, three people may be under the rubble. A shopping and entertainment center was also damaged.
Kharkiv region: according to preliminary data, the occupants struck Kharkiv at least four times. An enterprise and an educational institution were damaged, one person was injured.
The occupants also attacked the town of Zmiiv, destroying a private house. Rescuers have rescued two people from the rubble, one more person may be trapped. The rescue operation continues.
Khmelnitsky region: several explosions were heard in the region. Rescuers and police are working at the sites of the explosions. Information about the victims is being clarified.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, on the night of January 7-8, air defense forces shot down 8 Shahed-136/131 kamikaze drones. The enemy targets were neutralized in the sky over Odesa and Mykolaiv regions.
