Russia launches 48 air targets at Ukraine overnight: air defence forces shoot down 10 cruise missiles and 25 drones
The defenders of Ukrainian skies repelled another air attack by Russian troops on the night of May 26 with 17 missiles and 31 attack drones. They shot down 35 enemy targets flying towards Dnipro and Kyiv in particular.
The Air Force of Ukraine reported on the results of air defence operations. Among other things, the aggressor launched missiles from aircraft, from the Caspian Sea region.
It is noted that the air attack by the Russian occupiers began at 22:00 on Thursday, May 25, and lasted until 05:00 on Friday, May 26. This time, the Russian Federation shifted the direction of the attack to the east, attacking critical infrastructure and facilities of the Ukrainian Defence Forces.
In total, 17 missiles of various types and 31 attack drones were launched.
- 10 X-101/X-555 cruise missiles and Tu-95MS aircraft were launched from the Caspian Sea;
- seven S-300/S-400 anti-aircraft guided missiles from the Tokmak area (i.e. Zaporizhzhia region);
- 31 Iranian-made Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs from the southern and northern directions.
"The Air Force, in cooperation with other components of the Ukrainian Defence Forces, destroyed 10 X-101/X-555 cruise missiles, 23 Shahed-136/131 attack drones, two Orlan-10 and Merlin-BP operational and tactical UAVs in the areas of responsibility of the East, Centre and South air commands," the Air Force said.
They added that strike drones and several S-300/S-400 missiles were recorded in the Kharkiv and Dnipro regions.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, last night, on May 25, Ukrainian air defence defeated 36 of 36 Shahed kamikaze drones. These Iranian-made UAVs were shot down on the approach to Kyiv and the western regions, as well as in the Mykolaiv and Odesa regions.
