"Russia is spending more ammunition than usual": the US explains the reason for the increase in Russian attacks

US explains the reason for the increase in Russian attacks

Russia has increased the scale of its air attacks on Ukraine in an attempt to force the Ukrainian Armed Forces to postpone its counter-offensive. At the same time, Ukraine has been successfully shooting down a large percentage of missiles and drones, disrupting the occupiers' plans.

This was reported by CNN with reference to a US official. Washington believes that massive Russian attacks may even benefit Ukraine.

According to the source, Russia has increased ammunition consumption in an attempt to confuse Ukrainian air defences.

The US official said that Russia has been conducting large-scale air attacks targeting command and control centres in Kyiv and other key facilities from several directions simultaneously. The aim of these attacks was likely to try to force Ukraine to postpone its long-awaited counter-offensive.

According to CNN, Ukraine was able to successfully cope with Russia's large-scale air attacks thanks to the echeloned air defence provided by its Western partners. Many missiles and drones were intercepted, allowing Ukrainian troops to withstand the attack.

The source noted that the massive attacks could even benefit Ukraine, as Russia is forced to use its limited stockpile of precision-guided missiles.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, on Tuesday night, May 16, the terrorist country of the Russian Federation launched a powerful attack on Kyiv using Kinzhal and Kalibr missiles. Thanks to the work of air defence units, all air targets were destroyed, but the debris damaged the property of citizens and, in particular, broke trees in the zoo.

Recall that on Tuesday, May 16, the roof of a private house was damaged as a result of falling debris from downed Russian missiles. Fortunately, the residents of the region were not injured.
