Russia is far from achieving its military goals - Estonian General Staff

Estonian General Staff says Russia has no progress on the battlefield

Russian troops have no progress on the front line in Ukraine, although they retain the initiative in ground operations. The Russian army is far from achieving its military objectives, while Ukraine continues to conduct successful attacks on the aggressor country's facilities located far from the front line.

This was stated by Colonel Eero Rebo, Chief of the General Staff of the Estonian Defense Forces. His words were quoted by err.ee on Friday, February 2.

He reminded that for several weeks, Russian energy and military infrastructure in the Krasnodar Territory, Bryansk, Ryazan, Leningrad and Nizhny Novgorod regions of Russia, as well as in the territory of Crimea, temporarily occupied by Russian troops, had been under attack.

He stated that the situation on the frontline in Ukraine has not changed over the past week and that the main fighting is taking place in the east of the country. The main efforts of the Russian Federation in the Donetsk sector are aimed at capturing Avdiivka, and fighting is also taking place in the Bakhmut and Donetsk sectors.

"For some time, there were signs in Avdiivka that maneuvering or reconnaissance units were spotted inside the settlement. However, they failed to organize a siege. In fact, there are fierce battles there, but the tactical situation has not changed much," the Estonian colonel said.

At the same time, in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, Russian occupants continue to attack the territories liberated by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Rebo also noted that Ukrainian troops continue to hold the bridgehead created on the banks of the Dnipro River, for which the battles are ongoing.
