Russia hits power facilities in Chernihiv and Sumy regions: a fire reported at the former, many wounded

On the night of October 19, Russian invaders attacked Chernihiv region. A critical infrastructure facility in the region came under attack, and a fire broke out there.

The invaders also targeted energy facilities in Sumy region: there are wounded, and people may be trapped under the rubble. The details were disclosed by the head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration Viacheslav Chaus and the Sumy Regional Military Administration.

Thus, a critical infrastructure facility in Chernihiv region came under attack.

"The enemy continues to attack energy supply facilities. At night, one was hit in Chernihiv region. The attack caused a fire, which was localized in a few hours. There is currently no problems with electricity supply," the statement said.

In Sumy region, the invaders used guided bombs and Shahed drones (three of them were shot down by air defense forces) against Shostka community.

"As a result of the enemy attack, preliminary, seven people were wounded. Energy and infrastructure facilities were damaged. A number of settlements in Shostka district are left without electricity. All the necessary services are working at the impact sites. The headquarters for liquidation of the consequences of the enemy's attack has been deployed. Power supply has been partially restored, the work is ongoing," the Sumy Regional Military Administration said in a statement.

As of 10:30 a.m., the prosecutor's office of Sumy region reported eight victims.

"As a result of the enemy attack, 8 people were wounded. An educational and medical institution, premises of a number of institutions, residential buildings and vehicles were damaged," the statement said.

According to preliminary data, the occupiers dropped 3 guided bombs on the city center at about 00:20 on October 19.

It is known that 28 houses, a fire station, two schools, and a court building were damaged in the Shostka community as a result of the enemy attack.

"Under the procedural guidance of the Shostka District Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation into the violation of the laws and customs of war (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) has been launched," the Sumy Prosecutor's Office added.

According to the mayor of Shostka, Mykola Noha, seven of the injured are in moderate condition.

"The rubble is being dismantled, we do not know the final numbers. Most likely, there are still people under the rubble," he said in a comment to Kordon. Media.

Sumyoblenergo warned the residents of the region about the introduction of emergency power outages.

"At 08:57, emergency outage schedules for shifts 1 to 5 were introduced in Sumy region, in accordance with the instructions of Ukrenergo. Shostkynskyi, Konotopskyi and part of Sumskyi districts will be de-energized. We are working to stabilize the power system!" the statement reads.

As a reminder, the night before, Russians fired missiles at Odesa, hitting a residential area. A fire broke out at the site. At the time of the first official reports of the attack, there was no information about the victims. Later it became known that more than ten private houses were damaged.

A woman in Kyiv was also injured during the night attack: a piece of a drone flew into her apartment window. The woman sustained a serious leg injury and underwent surgery.

In addition, it was reported that an enemy attack injured five emergency service workers in Kherson with a drone. The men, aged 24, 41, 43, 44, and 47, sustained blast injuries and shrapnel wounds to their limbs and torsos.
