Russia hits Dnipro with RS-26 Rubezh missile with range of up to 6,000km despite Putin's claims of Oreshnik – FT

On November 21, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin said that his troops had fired an experimental hypersonic missile, the Oreshnik, at Ukraine. However, military experts claim that this is not the case - the Russians struck the Dnipro River with an RS-26 Rubizh missile.

It has a range of up to 6,000 kilometers. This was reported by the British Financial Times, citing an unnamed Ukrainian military official.

Putin said that the Oreshnik was used to hit a plant in Dnipro, which used to be a "top-secret missile building facility of the Soviet Union." However, on Thursday morning, the aggressor hit the city with nine missiles, of which six X-101s were shot down by air defense forces.

According to the dictator, the strike was allegedly in response to the fact that the United States and the United Kingdom allowed Kyiv to use advanced Western weapons against targets in Russia.

"However, a senior Ukrainian military official told the Financial Times that it was an RS-26 Rubizhne missile, which has a range of up to 6,000 kilometers," the newspaper said.

The analysts did not provide any more facts on this. The article was accompanied by a map showing, among other things, the location of the Russian strike (Dnipro) and a blue line outlining the distance at which the Defense Forces can strike at Russian territory with Western weapons.

Earlier, the Pentagon also said that the Oreshnik ballistic missile that Russia launched on November 21 on the Dnipro River was not an intercontinental ballistic missile, but it was indeed based on the Rubezh ICBM.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Putin is using Ukraine as a testing ground for the latest weapons. According to him, the Kremlin once again demonstrates its contempt for human life, dignity, and freedom by using the latest missiles.
