On the morning of January 28, Russia attacked Odesa and the region with kamikaze drones and one missile: all the targets were destroyed, but the debris damaged high-rise buildings, a school and a grain warehouse, and set cars on fire. Four people, including a 91-year-old grandfather, were injured as a result of Russia's war crime.

During a rescue mission, experts managed to free one resident from a blocked apartment. This was reported by Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov.

According to him, the attack damaged residential buildings, caused four cars to catch fire, and smashed windows in apartments due to a blast wave.

"City agencies are working on the spot to clean up the aftermath of the attack. We are setting up an operational headquarters where people will be able to apply for financial assistance and receive materials to temporarily seal the holes," added the mayor.

Local channels noted that explosions were heard in several districts of the city around six in the morning. They also reported damage to one of the residential buildings - on the 17th and 18th floor - with windows blown out.

Oleh Kiper, head of the Regional Military Administration, said that in addition to drones, Russia also launched a missile at Odesa region, which was shot down by the Ukrainian Air Force, as well as drones themselves.

At the same time, the fragments of the downed UAVs damaged the glass in four residential high-rise buildings and five country houses.

In one yard, 10 cars caught fire. Firefighters quickly extinguished it, but at least six cars completely burnt out. Also, a school and a grain warehouse were damaged.

Four people were wounded in a drone attack: a 91-year-old man was hospitalized, while other victims were treated on the spot.

"All relevant agencies are working to eliminate the consequences of the enemy attack. Law enforcement officers are documenting the consequences of another Russian war crime against the civilian population of Odesa region," added Kiper.

SES noted that one resident was rescued from a blocked apartment on the 19th floor of a 20-story building.

Apartments on the 18th and 19th floors of the building were damaged, but no fire was recorded. Overall, psychologists helped 15 people.

Under the procedural supervision of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation into a commission of a war crime (Part 1 Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) has been initiated.

The inspection is ongoing, with a full list of destruction and damage to be compiled. At the scene, prosecutors, in cooperation with other law enforcement officers, are documenting the consequences of Russia's actions.

As reported, on the night of January 25, Ukrainian Navy destroyed an enemy X-59 missile in Odesa region during a Russian air attack from a boat. The occupants launched it from a Su-27 aircraft, targeting the Pivdennyi seaport.
