Nariman Dzhelialov (Celal), the Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, released from Russian captivity, met with his family. The long-awaited meeting took place in Kyiv on Saturday, July 6.

This was reported by the Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov in his Telegram. His wife Leviza and her four children came to the meet with the former political prisoner.

"Nariman Dzhelialov's family is together again. Not yet at home, not in Crimea, but in Kyiv, the capital of our country. Insha'Allah, we will all be united again in our native Crimea, liberated from Russian barbarians," the statement reads.

Nariman Dzhelialov has been in captivity since 2021. In September of the same year, in the occupied Crimea, Russian security forces conducted searches and detained 5 people in the case of "sabotage on the gas pipeline" in the village of Perevalne, including Dzhelialov himself. The next day, the occupation court decided to arrest him and the other detainees.

Subsequently, on September 21, 2022, the occupation Supreme Court of Crimea announced the verdict against the First Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, sentencing him to 17 years in a strict regime colony, a fine of 700 thousand rubles and restriction of freedom of movement for 1.6 years.

As reported, on June 28, it became known that Ukraine managed to return 10 more civilians from Russian captivity. Nariman Dzhelialov, Valeriy Matyushenko, Olena Pekh, Bohdan Heleta, Ivan Levytskyi, Mykola Shvets, Natalia Zakharenko, Pavlo Kuprienko, Lyudmyla Honcharenko and Kateryna Bryukhanova.
