Putin must see that Europe will not give up on Ukraine - Tusk
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, who has been waging a full-scale war against Ukraine for two years now, must be sure that Europe will not refuse to help Kyiv. There should be no talk of "fatigue" from the war in Ukraine in Europe.
This was stated by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a press conference in Berlin with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The politician said that the Weimar Triangle (an informal international association of Germany, Poland and France) could play a leading role in this matter, Ukrinform reports.
"The three capitals (Paris, Warsaw, and Berlin) should give a clear sign that Europe will not give up on Ukraine. Putin must see that there is no fatigue from Ukraine. We will not abandon Ukraine, and the Weimar Triangle can play a leading role here," Tusk emphasized.
The head of the Polish government noted that Berlin and Warsaw should take responsibility for continuing this policy and for mobilizing the entire European Union to increase the union's defense capabilities.
Tusk called Germany and Poland the countries that are "most involved in Ukraine's security."
The prime minister also said that Europe should increase its defense capabilities as actively as possible. In addition to helping Ukraine in the war, the EU needs to achieve more powerful capabilities in air defense and munitions production. This should be done not within 10 years but in the coming months.
"We did not want confrontation, but the EU economy is eight times larger than Russia's, and the EU population is six times larger than Russia's. There is no reason to be weaker than Russia militarily," Tusk emphasized.
