On September 19, Russian troops shelled Kherson again. The invaders hit a trolleybus and caused a fire in a warehouse building.
A policeman was killed, two trolleybus passengers were injured, and one of them later died in hospital. This was reported by the head of the Kherson regional military administration Oleksandr Prokudin and the head of the Kherson city military administration Roman Mrochko.
"Russian troops fired at a trolleybus in Kherson. Two passengers were wounded - men aged 33 and 57. They were taken to the hospital. The victims are being examined and provided with medical aid," said Prokudin.
He later said that the older of the injured men died in the hospital.
According to the Kherson MIA, the invaders also killed a policeman who was near the place of arrival.
"Today at 09:35 Russian troops fired on the Korabelny district of Kherson. They hit a trolleybus #9 on Neftovykiv Street. Two people were wounded as a result of the enemy attack. They were taken to the hospital. A senior police sergeant who was nearby was killed," said Mrochko.
The deceased police officer was 49 years old.
"In the morning, a 49-year-old police sergeant was killed in Kherson as a result of Russian artillery shelling. Our condolences to the family of the deceased police officer," said Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.
He added that a warehouse building also caught fire as a result of the enemy hit.
"Rescuers are extinguishing the fire with an area of about 1000 square meters. All necessary services are on the spot. We are working," noted Klymenko.
A few hours later, the National Police named the policeman killed by the hostages. It was Andriy Tarchynskyi. He was once a peacekeeper in Kosovo, and after the annexation of Crimea in 2014, he volunteered to join the Kherson Special Police Patrol Company and was caught in the cauldron near Ilovaisk.
"Together with his comrades, he went through the hell of Ilovaisk when he was saving the soldiers, was seriously wounded himself, but got out of the enemy's circle," the National Police said.
As a reminder, on the night of September 19, Russian troops also attacked Lviv. A man was killed in the attack. The invaders hit warehouses with windows, household chemicals and humanitarian supplies.
In total, Russia launched 30 drones and Iskander-Ms at Ukraine last night, and air defense forces shot down 27 targets.
