Occupants create preconditions for another environmental disaster in Ukraine: the Center for National Resistance disclosed the enemy's plan
After the Russian invaders blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric dam on June 6, 2022, the enemy is creating the preconditions for another environmental disaster. For example, in the south of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions and in Crimea, the issue of water supply and irrigation of agricultural land has become more acute due to the shallowing of the North Crimean Channel.
In this regard, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Andrey Razin illegally arrived in Zaporizhzhia region. This is reported by the Center of National Resistance.
He reportedly attended a meeting with Svitlana Shevchenko, the so-called "Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers - Minister of Agrarian and Food Policy" appointed by the occupiers.
At this meeting, the occupation administration proposed to use the waters of the Molochna River, which is the largest in Zaporizhzhia region, and pump its water into the irrigation system to solve the water supply problem. In addition, the occupation administration has already begun cleaning the riverbed and preparing for engineering work.
At the same time, such actions of the occupation authorities may lead to an increase in the salinity level of the Azov Sea and cause a shortage of drinking water in the city of Melitopol. This, in turn, creates the preconditions for a new environmental crisis in the temporarily occupied territories.
Earlier it was reported that fires had been burning on the temporarily occupied island of Dzharylgach in the Kherson region for more than a week. The fire destroyed the entire protected area of the natural park on the territory of more than 1500 hectares and caused billions of hryvnias in damage.
