NATO allies must ensure AFU's strength - Stoltenberg

Several NATO allies promised to inspect their stockpiles in the near future

NATO countries must support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is the only way to achieve sustainable peace.

This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg during a press conference in Brussels on Thursday, April 4. According to him, if the allies provide Ukraine with "what it needs," the Ukrainian Armed Forces will be able to win new victories.

The Alliance Secretary General noted that several NATO partners have promised to review their stockpiles in the near future.

"They realize that they need to strengthen Ukraine's air defense systems as soon as possible. Allies will review their stockpiles to decide whether they can provide more of their systems, including Patriot, and spare parts to Kyiv," Stoltenberg said.

However, the NATO Secretary General also acknowledged the likelihood that the Alliance will not be able to provide Ukraine with the necessary number of weapons to counter Russia.

"The scenario of a conflict in which Kyiv is defeated is possible. That is why NATO has no plans to send troops to Ukraine," Stoltenberg summarized.

As reported, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg initiated the creation of a five-year fund of allied contributions totaling $ 100 billion for Ukraine. The relevant package is to be signed by the leaders of the Alliance member states at the July summit in Washington.

It is worth noting that US Secretary of State Blinken and Secretary General Stoltenberg "discussed preparations for the upcoming meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers". In particular, the parties discussed mechanisms to strengthen NATO's political and practical support for Ukraine.
