More people return than evacuate: Regional Military Administration representative on the situation in Donetsk region

223 thousand people returned to Donetsk region from evacuation

223,000 people have already returned to the Donetsk region after the evacuation that began with the full-scale invasion of Russia. Local authorities have noticed a trend of the increased number of returns compared to the number of evacuees.

This was reported by the Donetsk Regional Military Administration. According to their data, two thousand more residents have returned than evacuated in the last two months alone.

In total, since February 2022, the authorities have evacuated about 1 million 357 thousand people (including 164 thousand children and 43 thousand people with disabilities) from the region. Currently, about 524 thousand people remain in the region, and the evacuation continues.

Locals are sent by an evacuation train from Pokrovsk to the Lviv direction every day. People are also evacuated to Berdychiv in the Zhytomyr region every eight days. They receive a one-time cash allowance and a monthly living allowance. Evacuees are accommodated in cities of compact residence if they do not have a place to stay.

The Donetsk Regional Military Administration has asked the population that remains in the Donetsk region to evacuate to safer regions.
