Mi-8 was transporting a cat, and Mi-24 was "covering": the pilot who flew to Ukraine told about the whims of the Russian Air Force leadership. Video

There were six crews and the flight took about an hour to complete

Russian pilot Maxim Kuzminov, who flew an Mi-8 helicopter to Ukraine, has spoken about the whims of the Russian Air Force (RAF) command. According to him, Russian pilots once had to transport a general's cat on two helicopters.

The pilot told about the case in an interview published on Vladimir Zolkin's YouTube channel . In particular, he was asked whether he had encountered irrational use of aviation by the Russian command (to watch the video, scroll to the end of the news).

"There's plenty of those cases. Our commander needed to transport a cat, a pet, he had some kind of pedigree, if I'm not mistaken. Two crews of Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters were assigned. Two helicopters transported this magnificent animal from Rostov, let's say, to Yeisk, Krasnodar region. That is, the Mi-8 was flying, and the Mi-24 was circling to cover it. In case they shoot it down. It's a pity for the cat!" - said the Russian pilot.

The crews of the two helicopters had three people each, he said. The flight took about an hour.

"A lot of fuel was burned... Resources, equipment. Accordingly, the crew is not always given a rest," Kuzminov said.

- Kuzminov will receive 500 thousand dollars from Ukraine, he will also have new documents made for him. An important element of the special operation of the Main Directorate of Intelligence was security guarantees for the pilot's family.

- The Main Directorate of Intelligence revealed the details of the special operation "Sinitsa". Kuzminov served in the 319th regiment of the army aviation with a permanent deployment point in Primorsky Krai of the Russian Federation.

- Main Directorate of Intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov said that the landing of the Mi-8 at an airfield in Kharkiv Region was one of the most successful special operations of the agency in the history of Ukraine. Kuzminov was approached and his entire family was taken out of the Russian Federation.
