"If Ukraine collapses, we will too": Czech president urged to support Kyiv until victory

Pavel urged to help Ukraine

Czech President Petr Pavel said that Ukraine's international partners should persistently assist it in its war against the Russian Federation. Otherwise, Ukraine's sovereignty will be defeated, and Western democracies will fall with it.

The politician said this to diplomats from different countries working in Prague on the occasion of the national holiday on October 28, Czech news agency 420 reports. He explained his geopolitical fears by the fact that global stability has been significantly shaken.

"Since then, we have witnessed many disturbing events in the world that have demonstrated the importance and necessity of open communication as a tool to prevent future escalation. Thus, I clearly understand that if Ukraine falls, we will too," Pavel explained.

The Head of State also called on diplomats to be sympathetic to the troubles of neighboring states that are experiencing military attack and occupation. According to him, the actions of the affected party should not be condemned.

As a reminder, the Czech Air Force held a farewell ceremony for its last Mi-24 and Mi-35 attack helicopters. This country is switching to AH-1Z Viper and UH-1Y Venom helicopters and has already received the first such machines. As for the Mi-24 and Mi-35, Ukraine can now get them.

As OBOZ.UA reported, back in the summer, Ukrainian President Zelensky met with his Czech counterpart Pavel and told him about the counteroffensive of the Defense Forces. At the time, he admitted that the pace of liberation of the occupied territories was not as rapid as expected, but that the initiative was in the hands of the Armed Forces.

"We are advancing. We have the initiative now. The offensive is not fast, this is a fact. However, we are moving forward, not backward, like the Russians. Therefore, I see this as a positive thing," the Head of State said during his visit to Prague.
