The operation of the Defense Forces in Kursk region is "only the beginning"."There will be several more stages to come".

This was stated by the head of the Sumy City Military Administration Oleksiy Drozdenko. His words are reported by The Guardian. According to the official, the first stage of the Armed Forces operation in the Kursk region went better than expected. Only 15 soldiers needed medical care on the first day.

"Sometimes there are more than 100-150 prisoners of war a day. Many of the Russian soldiers guarding the border are young conscripts. They do not want to fight with us," Drozdenko said.

He emphasized that he was actively involved in the planning of the operation in Kursk region, but was sworn to secrecy before the surprise attack.

"We are seeing only a part of this operation, we will see several stages in the future," Drozdenko said, describing the invasion as "not like previous raids" in the Belgorod region.

As The Guardian notes, although Drozdenko did not provide more information, there are signs that Ukraine has introduced new tactics to try to gain more Russian territory. On Sunday morning, Ukraine's Air Force released a video of a hole in the bridge in the village of Zvane over the Seim River in Kursk Oblast.

Other local civilian leaders, including Sumy Region Governor Volodymyr Artyukh, said they were not warned in advance, indicating that Drozdenko was in a trusted circle.

As a reminder, the Russian military command has deployed its so-called space infantry to defend the Kursk region, where the Ukrainian army ' s offensive continues. Due to a shortage of personnel, servicemen from the Space Force units, including personnel of nuclear warning stations and heavy bomber air bases, were "retrained" as motorized infantry.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, despite the lack of forces, the Russian command has not yet pulled its reserves from Donbas to transfer them to the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. Analysts explain that the risks of losing positions in the areas of Pokrovsk, Toretsk and Vuhledar are too great for the aggressor to allow itself to withdraw from there.
