General Staff: AFU performs defensive operations in the east and south and continues offensive in Melitopol and Bakhmut directions

On the 584th day of the Russian invasion, Ukraine's defense forces continued to conduct defensive operations in the east and south and advance in the Melitopol and Bakhmut direction. Ukrainian defenders are destroying the occupiers, liberating the territories captured by the enemy step by step and gaining new ground.

Over the past day, 44 combat engagements took place. This is stated in the summary of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, released on the morning of September 30.

Situation in various frontline areas

The enemy did not conduct any offensive (assault) actions in the Kupiansk and Lyman directions, areas of responsibility of the Khortytsia operational-strategic group (OSG).

The enemy unsuccessfully tried to regain lost ground in the vicinity of Klishchiivka in the Bakhmut direction.

The occupiers carried out more than 20 unsuccessful attacks in the areas of Tonenke, Marinka, Novomykhailivka and Staromaiorsk in the Donetsk region in the Avdiivka, Marinka, and Shakhtarsk directions in the area of responsibility of the Tavria Brigade. They also unsuccessfully tried to regain the lost position southwest of Avdiivka.

The aggressor's troops tried to regain their lost ground in the areas of Robotyne and Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia direction but were unsuccessful.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue counter-battery fighting in the Kherson direction in the area of responsibility of the Odesa operational-strategic group, destroying supply depots and striking the enemy's rear.

No significant changes were recorded in the Volyn and Polissia directions in the area of responsibility of the North operational-strategic group

The enemy maintains the military presence in the border areas in the Siversk and Slobozhansk directions, as well as conducts active sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of our troops to threatened areas and increases the density of minefields along the border in the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation.

Ukrainian Armed Forces advance in two directions

The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to conduct offensive operations in the Melitopol and Bakhmut directions, the General Staff said.

Our soldiers are inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the enemy, depleting it along the entire front line.

Occupants suffered losses

Over the day, the aviation of the Defense Forces carried out 11 strikes on areas of concentration of manpower, weapons and military equipment, as well as 2 strikes on the SAM of Russian troops, the General Staff said.

Missile troops struck 3 areas of concentration of manpower, weapons and military equipment, 2 SAMs, 13 artillery pieces, an ammunition depot and an electronic warfare station of the occupiers.

Enemy shelling

According to the report, the aggressor launched 6 missiles and 56 air strikes, as well as 40 multiple rocket launcher strikes at Ukrainian troops' positions and civilian objects. There were civilian casualties and injuries, as well as the destruction of private homes and other civilian infrastructure.

In addition, on the night of September 30, the Russian Federation attacked Ukraine with Shahed-136/131 kamikaze drones. Information on the consequences is being clarified, the General Staff said.

Air strikes were carried out in Komisarove, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Pishchane, Senkove, Kopanky in the Kharkiv region; Novoselivske, Nevske in the Luhansk region; Zarichne, Spirne, Serebrianka, Bohdanivka, Krasnohorivka, Marinka, Vuhledar, Velyka Novosilka, Urozhaine, Staromaiorske the in Donetsk region; Novodarivka, Robotyne, Novodanylivka, Orikhiv in the Zaporizhzhia; and Beryslav, Olhivka in the Kherson region.

More than 100 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions came under artillery fire.

As OBOZREVATEL reported earlier, Estonian military intelligence warned that Russia increased pressure in the Kupiansk direction, preparing a battlefield. The occupiers blew up a bridge over the Oskol River. The situation is difficult, but the Armed Forces are controlling it.
