DPRK hid launchers in trucks, they are used in the war against Ukraine – Forbes

DPRK handed over truck launchers to Russia, they were spotted in Kursk region

North Korea has allegedly transferred multiple launch rocket systems disguised as civilian trucks to the aggressor state of Russia for use in the war against Ukraine. This equipment was first presented at a parade in Pyongyang in 2023 and is now in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.

This was reported by Forbes. During the parade, the DPRK army demonstrated a variety of civilian trucks and dump trucks with multiple launch rocket systems hidden in them. Such a truck was spotted in the Kursk region, and a video was posted online.

This is an MLRS, which consists of a launcher for twelve 122-mm Grad-type shells, and is located inside the truck of an ordinary truck.

"This stealth launcher is the fifth large vehicle that North Korea has deployed to Russia along with the North Korean 11th Army Corps, which had 12,000 soldiers when it arrived in October but has since lost a third of them in infantry assaults on Ukrainian positions," the article says.

The publication writes that a truck-mounted launcher is a strange system of potentially limited utility. Concealing launchers in civilian trucks could help these vehicles get into position before "sneak attacking an unprepared enemy."

At the same time, this will obviously not help them avoid Ukrainian artillery and drones on the battlefield, where Russian troops are already using many thousands of civilian vehicles for military purposes.

The author emphasizes that the truck-mounted launchers are not likely to be of much use in the battle for the Kursk region. Since they are based on an undisguised North Korean BM-21 launcher, "the system has lower accuracy than conventional artillery and cannot be used in situations that require precision."

As reported by OBOZ.UA, the head of the DIU Kyrylo Budanov said that in the near future, the DPRK will send military assistance to the Kursk region. We are talking about missile and artillery troops. The Russian army may also receive additional KN-23 short-range ballistic missiles from the DPRK.
