DIU: occupiers continue to mine Zaporizhzhia NPP and facilities on the territory of the plant

Occupiers continue to mine ZNPP

Russian occupants continue to mine the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant and facilities on the territory of the strategic site. Intelligence records the delivery of mines and explosives to the Zaporizhzhia NPP.

In particular, mine-explosive barriers of controlled and uncontrolled directional anti-personnel mines are seen in the technical and machine rooms of the plant. This was reported in the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

The military intelligence noted that the Russian occupants continue to mine the ZNPP.

"The occupants continue to mine the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant and facilities on the territory of the plant. Mines and explosives are currently being delivered to the territory of ZNPP," the GIU said in a report.

Technical premises and machine rooms of ZNPP are mined in the first place.

"In the technical premises and in the machine rooms there are mine-explosive barriers, which consist of remotely controlled and uncontrolled directional anti-personnel mines. Soviet-type directional mines MON-50, MON-90, MON-100 and MON-200 are mainly used," the intelligence service stated.

Just the day before, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said that the Agency inspectors "did not see any signs of explosives" at ZNPP after their inspection. However, he admitted that the Russians still do not allow IAEA observers to enter the roofs of reactors where unidentified objects that may turn out to be explosive devices have been detected.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia is considering a scenario of a terrorist attack on Zaporizhzhia NPP. The occupiers have prepared everything for it. The statement came after Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, warned that after the Kakhovka hydroelectric plant was blown up, Russian occupiers had additionally mined the Zaporizhzhia NPP.

The day before, on July 6, satellite photos appeared in the network, confirming that new objects appeared on the roof of the fourth power unit of Zaporizhzhia NPP. The quality of the images does not allow for identifying what exactly was placed there. Earlier, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that according to Ukrainian intelligence, this power unit might be mined.

It was also reported that Energoatom stated that the occupants had installed machine gun nests on the roofs of Zaporizhzhia power units.
