DIU destroys the most advanced Russian Su-57 fighter jet for the first time: images show craters from the explosion and traces of fire

On Saturday, June 8, an up-to-date Su-57 multi-role fighter jet was destroyed at the Akhtubinsk airfield in the Astrakhan region of the Russian Federation. Satellite images confirm that the enemy aircraft was hit.

The fighter jet was attacked at an airfield located 589 kilometers from the front line. This was reported by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.

Satellite images show that the Su-57 was hit between June 7 and 8. On the 7th, the fighter jet was still intact, but the next day, craters from the explosion and characteristic fire spots appeared near it, which resulted from the fire damage.

The DIU noted that the most modern fighter jet of the terrorist country Russia, the Su-57, is capable of using X-59 and X-69 missiles for strikes. At the same time, the Russian Aerospace Forces have few units of these combat aircraft in service.

Characteristics of the Su-57

The terrorist country began operating the Su-57 in 2022. According to Russian propagandists, a total of 15 units of the fighter jets were produced, including prototypes. However, the Russians have up to 10 of these fighters in operable condition.

The Russian Federation claims that the Su-57's electronic system is fundamentally new, differing from the traditional airborne radar. The fighter is equipped with a powerful radar and weapons inside the fuselage, which makes the aircraft invisible.

The Su-57 fighter is equipped with a 30-mm 9-A1-4071K air cannon, which was first tested in 2014. The main weapons of the aircraft are cruise missiles X-59 and X-69.

Interestingly, the Russians developed the Su-57 jointly with Indian experts. However, in 2018-2019, India withdrew from this project because it was convinced that Russia did not have the appropriate technology.
