DIU agents hit Kavkaz plant in Russian Rostov region

Fire at an oil depot in Proletarsk, Rostov Region, Russia

On the night of August 18, soldiers of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine hit Kavkaz plant in the Rostov region of the Russian Federation in cooperation with other units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. The occupants stored oil products for the needs of the occupation army there.

At least two fires were recorded at the base, and the exact consequences of the damage are being established. The strike was confirmed by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"The Ukrainian Defense Forces have struck another important object of the Russian invaders. On the night of August 18, Kavkaz plant in the Rostov region of the Russian Federation was hit. Oil products were stored here, which were supplied for the needs of the Russian occupation army, in particular," the statement said.

The General Staff added that at least two fires were recorded on the territory of the facility as a result of the shelling. This is confirmed by photos that appeared in the Russian media in the morning.

Meanwhile, more detailed information on the consequences of the strike is being clarified.

"The operation was carried out by the forces and means of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine in cooperation with the Armed Forces and other components of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. Measures to undermine the military-economic potential of the Russian Federation continue. Wait for more," the General Staff summarized.

The Kavkaz plant is subordinated to the Federal Agency for State Reserves (Rosrezerv).

As a reminder, on the morning of August 18, it became known that an oil depot in the city of Proletarsk in the Rostov region of the Russian Federation caught fire after a drone attack. Russians claim that there were two consecutive attacks by "Ukrainian drones" on the facility. They posted online footage of the fire, which was visible from the surrounding settlements.

The governor of Rostov region, Vasily Golubev, said that air defense forces "repelled a UAV attack" in the southeast of the region. He claimed that the fire started "as a result of falling debris" on the territory of industrial warehouses and that diesel fuel was allegedly burning. According to him, the oil depot was attacked two times, which is why "it is not possible to extinguish it yet."

Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry boasted that it had "shot down" five Ukrainian UAVs during the night, two of which, the occupiers claim, were allegedly destroyed over the Rostov region.
