Defense forces withdraw from Lastochkine village

Ukrainian Armed Forces units have withdrawn from the village of Lastochkine near occupied Avdiivka. The defenders will organize defense on the line along several other settlements.

This was reported by the spokesman of the Tavriia Operational-Strategic Group (OSG) Dmytro Lykhovii, Suspilne media outlet reports. Heavy fighting continues in the Avdiivka sector.

The representative of Tavriia noted that units of the Defense Forces came out to organize defense on the line of Orlivka, Tonenke, and Berdychi.

The day before, Lykhovii said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had withdrawn to prepared positions on the western outskirts of Lastochkine, but Russian troops have not yet fully occupied the village, and fierce fighting continues.

After capturing Avdiivka, the Russian occupation forces identified Lastochkine as a new target for attacks. The invaders intensified their assault operations in the direction of the settlement to the west of the occupied city and shelled it daily.

Over February 25, in the Avdiivka sector, the Defense Forces repelled 25 Russian attacks in the areas of the settlements of Sieverne, Stepove, Berdychi, Lastochkino, and Nevelske in the Donetsk region.

Earlier, Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said that the situation is currently difficult in many frontline areas, including Avdiivka. Together with Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, he visited the forward command posts of military units in the combat zone. The two men awarded the soldiers who held Avdiivka and covered the withdrawal of their comrades from the city, causing irreparable losses to the enemy.
