Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky said that the situation on the front line has escalated. While in Zaporizhzhia and the left bank of the Kherson region the invaders have not made any special achievements, and in the Kupyansk and Lyman directions Ukrainian soldiers managed to improve their tactical positions, the invaders managed to advance west of Avdiivka and south of Maryinka in the Donetsk region.

Syrsky confirmed that Ukrainian forces had withdrawn from Berdychi, Semenivka and Novomykhailivka. He explained the decision to leave these villages as a desire to avoid losses among the Defense Forces.

Syrsky characterized the situation in the Pokrovske and Kurakhove directions as "the most difficult". Fierce fighting is taking place there. The defense forces west of Avdiivka and near Maryinka are facing significant occupation forces.

"The enemy has deployed up to four brigades in these areas and is trying to develop an offensive west of Avdiivka and Maryinka, making its way to Pokrovsk and Kurakhove. The Ukrainian Defense Forces units, preserving the lives and health of our defenders, moved to new frontiers west of Berdychiv, Semenivka and Novomykhailivka," said the Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief.

Syrsky assured that despite the fact that the enemy managed to achieve certain tactical successes in the above-mentioned areas, the Russians did not gain an operational advantage there.

"Ukrainian troops are inflicting maximum losses on the enemy both in personnel and military equipment. To strengthen defense in these areas and replace the units that suffered losses, brigades that have regained combat capability are being redeployed," the Chief of Staff emphasized.

Earlier, OBOZ.UA reported that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine spoke about the escalation of the situation on the battlefield. Thus, in a lengthy post on his Telegram channel, Syrsky explained what was actually happening at the front and named the most difficult areas.

It was also reported that the morning report of the General Staff on April 28 stated that 88 combat clashes took place at the front during the day.
